As the shadows of the end times lengthen, the deceptive promise of physical safety is leading many into a trap of their own making. From the biblical accounts of Genesis 19, where Lot fled Sodom, to Exodus 12, when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, it can seem convincing that the Lord is speaking of a physical departure to seek salvation — especially when paired with the command in Revelation 18:4 to "Come out of her, my people."

The Lord is not describing a physical relocation; He is revealing a spiritual one. He is commanding us to cease partaking in the sins, idolatry, and customs of pagan gods that we learned from the nation and land we currently live in. In all three of these scriptural accounts, the focus is not on physical salvation, but spiritual preservation. The Bible refers to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of promise and salvation (Ephesians 1:13–14).

The Modern Towers of Babel

In Obadiah 1:4, the Bible talks about people trying to escape judgment by building their nest among the stars. This is manifesting today through projects like Asgardia, the first "space nation," which seeks to establish a sovereign kingdom in orbit, and NASA's long-term goals for lunar and Martian colonies. These are modern Towers of Babel — digital and physical "nests" designed to bypass the terrestrial judgment of God.

Nests Among the Stars

Space nations, orbital colonies, lunar bases — modern attempts to place oneself above the reach of God's judgment.

False Escape · Revelation 6:15–17
Bunkers in the Mountains

Doomsday bunkers built deep underground — fleeing into the hearts of mountains to escape universal judgment.

When God judged the earth the first time, did He judge a region — or did He judge the entire world?
He judged the entire world.
So where can you run?

Because the judgment is universal and inescapable in the physical realm, the doctrine of a "pre-tribulation rapture" or a physical escape before the fire of judgment is a dangerous distraction. There is no "easy exit" from the geography of judgment. Instead, we are entering the period of Jacob's Trouble and the Great Tribulation — a time of unprecedented pressure where the physical world offers no sanctuary.

The Only True Hiding Place
Colossians 3:3

"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."

To be "hidden" does not mean to be removed from the earth; it means to be rooted in Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. The saints are not promised an escape from the fire — but a preservation through it.

The World's Answer
Physical Relocation

Run to the stars. Dig into the mountains. Build a bunker. Establish a colony. All of these are physical flight from a universal spiritual judgment.

The Spirit's Answer
Hidden in Christ

Enter into a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Receive the Holy Spirit. Be preserved through the fire — not removed from it.

Galatians 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." Salvation is a spiritual and internal work — not a physical place or habitation.

Running with Endurance

Because we are not being removed, we must look to Hebrews 12:1–2. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses and must run with endurance the race set before us. To endure means to remain under the pressure of the tribulation without breaking. We are called to fix our eyes on Jesus — the author and finisher of our faith.

The Flight of the Remnant

The "flight" is not into the stars or into the earth — but into the Spirit. Grounded in Christ through the Scriptures, led and guided by the Holy Spirit. There will be no physical place to run and nowhere to hide. The only sanctuary is spiritual.

Where Will You Be Found?

To return to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ — entering into a true relationship with Him and receiving His precious Holy Spirit — is the only exit strategy that holds. In all three scriptural accounts of flight and deliverance, the focus was never on physical salvation, but spiritual preservation.

In closing: there will be no physical place to run and nowhere to hide. The pre-tribulation rapture is a dangerous distraction. The bunker will not save you. The space colony will not save you. The judgment is universal, inescapable, and coming.

But the hiding place is real — and it has always been Christ.

Do not flee into the stars. Flee into the Spirit.
